Qualitative Associate Director Wanted
posted 22 May 2013We are looking for an experienced Associate Director to join one of our four qualitative groups. Each group is made up of about 6-7 researchers, and work across a range of clients / categories and deliver a wide variety of qualitative research. Each group is headed up by a senior director with 10+ years of experience and the Associate Directors work under their direction, but also have ample opportunity to work autonomously on projects.
The role is for an established Associate Director (not an RM making the step up), and there is potential for the ideal candidate to fast-track to Director. The AD role at Firefish demands the full range of research, client handling and internal management skills:
- Research skills – handling projects from proposal to debrief, interested in new & innovative approaches, but equally passionate about delivering projects based on more traditional techniques to the highest possible degree.
- Handling multiple projects – able to manage several projects at any one time, leading project teams and effectively delegating work to execs / juniors.
- Client Handling & Management – confident & proactive with clients, able to communicate clearly & effectively on projects, nurture on-going relationships between projects and troubleshoot in difficult situations.
- Client development & new business – successful proposal writing is essential, willing and able to take on majority of a proposal with guidance and input from a senior director.
Experience is essential in the areas of Brand, Communications and NPD research in FMCG and other sectors
We are also keen to hear from those that have working at one of Firefish’s competitors
Essential Skill Sets
- Proven ability in all aspects of the research process:-
- Receiving client briefs and delivering winning proposals
- Strong project management and client communication
- Outstanding moderation
- Strong and strategic analysis skills
- Clear & engaging debrief writing
- Evidence of being able to simultaneously handle multiple projects at various stages of completion
- Proven ability to build client relationships and showing potential to form long-lasting client relationships
- International research experience
Preferred Skill Sets
- Evidence of running own clients – building an ongoing relationship and being seen as a key contact for clients
- Evidence of proactively seeking new business
- Interest in the wider world of research – writing papers, attending conferences, presenting conferences
We are looking for those with academic/professional qualifications to the following level:
- First or Upper Second Degree
- A / B grades only at A-level
- A / B grades only at GCSE

Research Manager Wanted (Qual)
posted 22 May 2013Firefish is looking for an established, intelligent, clear thinking, passionate, enquiring and fun Research Manager to come into one of our qualitative research groups. The position requires a solid qualitative skill set to execute diverse research projects for a wide variety of clients working in different categories. The Ideal candidate will be ambitious to progress and the role will offer the opportunity to fast track your career to Associate Director and beyond.
The role will require the successful candidate to undertake project management tasks of a typical project with minimal input from senior team members, across multiple project management, client management and all aspects of the research process.
Proven research skills and experience are a must including, but not limited to:
- Project management
- Discussion Guide writing
- Moderating in most circumstances
- Summarising output of research modules to clients in a succinct way
- Summarising and actioning outcomes of client meetings
- Writing top line research summaries
- Writing debriefs with minimal senior input, after discussions and strategic analysis sessions with senior team member(s)
- Presenting large portions of debriefs
- Be informed, articulate and intelligent in client interactions
- Having a track record in handling multiple research projects
- International research experience
A broad understanding of brand, communications and NPD research within FMCG and other sectors is also required.
Applicants must be educated to First or 2:1 degree level with A-B grades at A-Level

Qualitative Director Wanted
posted 22 May 2013Firefish is looking for a high flying, ambitious, intelligent, clear-thinking, passionate, enquiring and fun Director to join one of our three qualitative teams to work across a range of clients / categories to deliver a wide variety of qualitative research.
The role calls for the candidate to be a ‘second in command’ the group head, supporting him in running the team and delivering the work. Whilst senior input will always be available where needed, the candidate will need to be highly able to work autonomously on projects and run and develop client relationships themselves. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person with development potential, seen as a ‘group head in waiting’ management role.
You will ideally have 6-10 years experience in research, with a good proportion of it with a qualitative agency, and are already in a Director role, or are currently an Associate Director confidently ready to step up to Director level.

- Have a background in a similar field and be educated to degree level
